How to file an appeal

Directions on where to file an appeal on social media sites and breaking down how the process works behind the scenes

Most social media platforms do not have a direct email or phone number to file appeals. Therefore, you can use the online forms in order to reach out to social media platforms.

Appeal Instructions for content decisions

Step 1

Appeal content decision to Facebook Oversight Board by requesting a review process.

When completing an appeal, go to your Support Inbox and click Your Violations. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your appeal.

Step 2

Wait for your appeal decision.

Once you submit the appeal, the Oversight Board will decide whether or not to review it.

Step 1

If your account had been disabled, use this form to request a review.

When reactivating an account that has been disabled, fill out the form to request a review to restore your account. Facebook notes that accounts that were disabled due to severe violations can not be restored.

File an appeal and we may be able to unsuspend your account.

First, log in to the account that is suspended. Then, open a new browser tab and file an appeal.
